A method of instruction providing detailed education, training and work-based experience, and direct patient care, generally at a clinical site. The student will apply theory, concepts and skills involving specialized materials, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with emergency medical services; demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, communicating in the applicable language of emergency medical services. Prerequisites: proof of CPR for Health Care Providers, documentation of required immunizations, current EMT/Basic certification, completion of EMSP 1361, 1438, 1455, and 1456 with a grade of "C" or better. Concurrent enrollment in EMSP 2143, 2430, 2434, and2544 required.

A detailed study of the knowledge and skills necessary to reach competence in the assessment and management of patients with cardiac emergencies. At the completion of this module, the student will be able to integrate the pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression; and implement the treatment plan for the cardiac patient. Prerequisites: proof of CPR for Health Care Providers, current EMT/Basic certification, completion of EMSP 1361, 1438, 1455, and 1456 with a grade of "C" or better. Concurrent enrollment in EMSP 2430, 2434, 2143, and 2462 required.

Continuation of skills covered in English 0300. Emphasis on writing essays with clearly stated thesis sentences, logically developed paragraphs, and appropriate conclusions. Prerequisite: English 0300 or appropriate score on college assessment. Lab requirement part of course.

Exit-level developmental writing course designed for students who have satisfactorily completed ENGL 0310, but who have not yet met college readiness standards on a state approved writing assessment. Also appropriate for students who elect to take a developmental writing course to develop college-level writing skills. Emphasis on the persuasive essay and research and documentation skills. Refinement of usage, grammar, and sentence structure skills included. Lab required. Prerequisite: Successful completion of ENGL 0310.

English 1302 continues the writing instruction of English 1301. Students analyze problems and texts to make convincing written and oral presentations, which include literary analyses, expository and persuasive essays, and a research paper on a literary topic. Using computer technology, students write their presentations on short stories, poetry, and drama. The course requires a lab component. Prerequisite: ENGL 1301. (RW)

This course is for beginning creative writers who want to write stories, poems, and other works. Students create works, revise works, and begin to understand something about the literary context within those works. Prerequisites: ENGL 1301, 1302. (RW)
