Content Reading Methods for Teacher Candidates in Field-Based Settings. Three semester hours (1 lecture, 4 lab). A field-based course, normally taught in Centers for Professional Development and Technology, in which prospective teachers acquire knowledge, skill, and ability to teach K-8 learners to interact with and use both teacher-directed and reader-based strategies to comprehend expository text, particularly social studies and science materials. Emphasis is on developing effective instructional strategies through the integration of teaching and technology. Teacher candidates study and practice in elementary and/or middle school classrooms with certified public school teacher trainers. Seminars are conducted in CPDT schools by teams of university and Pre-K-8 teachers. Prerequisites: ElEd 300, Rdg 350, Rdg 370, admission to Teacher Education; placement in a NETCPDT center; minimum overall GPA of 2.5 and must have passed TSI.%
