Athletic Training Internship in General Medicine. Two semester hours. This internship is designed to provide athletic training majors a directed field experience in General Medical applications within athletic training. It will integrate previously learned knowledge and skills with supervised clinical application. The students will be exposed to general medical services while being assigned to an orthopedist, team doctor, physician's assistant or other medical facilities. The students are expected to observe and participate when possible in injury/illness evaluation, immediate and emergency care, follow-up treatment, rehabilitation and related general medical assessments. An assigned clinical instructor will directly supervise students during the field-based internship. Mastery of clinical skills will be required to complete the internship. Participation in directed clinical experience in on-campus and off-campus facilities is required. Transportation will be needed. Course fees and lab fees are listed in the current course schedule.
