Study of fire inspection including rules, codes and field inspection practices to meet certification requirements of the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Select and limit applicable rules and regulations; select and apply appropriate codes; list different types of construction and allowable occupancy classifications; and describe building service equipment and process. Describe and list possible hazards; list different types of fire protection systems and water supplies; and demonstrate field proficiency in inspection practices. Continuation of Firefighting Strategies and Tactics I. Emphasis on use of incident command in large-scale command problems and other specialized fire problems. Assessment Levels: R2, E2, M1.

Continuation of Fire and Arson I. Topics that will be studied will include reports, courtroom demeanor and expert witnesses. Prerequisite: FIRT 1303. Assessment Levels: R2, E2, M1.

Study of the chemical characteristics and behavior of various materials. Topics include storage, transportation, handling hazardous emergency situations and the most effective methods of hazard mitigation. Assessment Levels: R2, E2, M2.

A capstone course covering fire ground operations and supervisory practices. Includes performance evaluation of incident commander, safety officer, public information officer and shift supervisor duties. Assessment Levels: R1, E1, M1.

Skill development in the promotion of health, safety and nutritional needs of elders and children. Topics include activities that promote intergenerational interaction, strategies for meeting the needs of adults and children in the care and service setting, ethics and professionalism.
