An examination of the history of motion pictures and their effect on our society as well as their contributions to our culture. The course covers the origin of silent films through the films of 1949. Emphasis on the analysis of the visual and aural aspects of selected motion pictures, dramatic aspects of narrative films and historical growth and sociological effect of film as art.
