Four hours credit. Provides students with the essential knowledge of the equipment and techniques used in the treatment of pulmonary disease and their clinical applications. The following areas are discussed in depth: oxygen therapy, humidity and aerosol therapy, hyperinflation therapy, CPT, pulse oximetry, arterial puncture, and interpretation. Forty-eight classroom and thirty-two lab hours. Co-requisites: RSPT 1309, 1340, 1410, and 1461. Lab fee.

Four hours credit. Provides students with essential knowledge of airway care and mechanical ventilation. Airway care includes indications, techniques, equipment, and hazards and complications. Mechanical ventilation includes indications, initiation modes, clinical application, management, complications, and weaning. Forty-eight classroom and thirtytwo lab hours. Prerequisites: RSPT 2317, 1340, 1410, and 1461. Co-requisites: RSPT 1305, 2314, and 1462. Lab fee.

Four hours credit. A method of instruction providing detailed and work-based experience and direct patient/client care, generally at a clinical site. Specific detailed learning objectives are developed for each course by the faculty. On-site clinical instruction, supervision, evaluation and placement is the responsibility of the college faculty. Clinical experiences are unpaid external learning experiences. Course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. 256 clinical hours. Prerequisites: RSPT 2317, 1340, and 1410. Lab fee.

One hour credit. Preparation and presentation of the case study. Instruction in the investigation, organization, and presentation of the material, including preparation of questions for group discussion. Sixteen classroom hours. Prerequisites: RSPT 2305, 2453, and 2461. Corequisites: RSPT 2355, and 2462.

Two hours credit. A discussion of pathogenesis, pathology, diagnosis, history, prognosis, manifestations, treatment, and detection of cardiopulmonary diseases. Thirty-two classroom hours.

3.00 Credits
Three hours credit. The theories and techniques involved in pulmonary function testing diagnostics with emphasis on blood gas theory and analysis, quality control, oximetry, and capnography. Forty-eight classroom hours. Prerequisites: RSPT 1261 and 2353. Co-requisites: RSPT 2453 and 2461.

Three hours credit. Preparation to conduct the therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate, spontaneous, and artificial ventilation with emphasis on ventilator classification, methods, principles, and operational characteristics. Also included are the indications, complications, and physiologic effects/principles of mechanical ventilation. Forty-eight classroom hours. Prerequisites: RSPT 2317, 1340, 1410, and 1461. Co-requisites: RSPT 2210, 1411, and 1462.

Three hours credit. A study of pharmacological principles/practices of drugs which affect the cardiopulmonary systems. Emphasis on classification, route of administration, dosages/calculations, and physiological interactions. Forty-eight classroom hours.

Three hours credit. Advanced concepts of acute care, monitoring, and management as applied to the neonatal and pediatric patient. Forty-eight classroom hours.
