0 Credits Undeclared division Non Credit Courses The classical Pilates Method mat workout is a movement and fitness system that works the entire body with emphasis on the vital energy core (abdominal and lower back) to build strength and agility in a balanced way. The exercises require concentration and deep, coordinated breaths, working the body and the mind. All the movements are taught in a flowing series where one exercise connects with the next. Each exercise engages the core (abdominal) along with various other major and minor muscle groups. As the workouts progress, you will notice an overall improvement in posture, becoming physically stronger, leaner, and trimmer. Exercises are presented clearly in a supportive environment for students new to Pilates, while subtle modifications are offered to challenge students who are well connected to their "power house" and are familiar with the beginner mat program.
