0 Credits Undeclared division Non Credit Courses Although you will be making a nightshirt in this class, it is not project oriented. Emphasis is on building basic garment sewing skills that can be applied to any project, from pattern and fabric selection and preparation to basic fit and the importance of grain in layout and cutting. Common beginner sewing frustrations are discussed and exercises to help you learn to recognize and solve them. Professional tips and techniques are taught throughout class encouraging the production of "custom made" rather than "home made" garments. Special techniques include pinning for accuracy, staggered grading and clipping, and understitching. You will receive a folder containing all the information taught in class. General knowledge of machine sewing required. NOTE: Please bring your own sewing machine to class. Materials list will be provided.

0 Credits Undeclared division Non Credit Courses This course continues on from NCC 084: Basic Fashion Sewing. You will learn to sew details such as darts, set-in sleeves, pockets, and basic collars. Banish puckering seams, floppy facings, sloppy collars and gaping pockets, and give your finished garments a clean finished professional polish. This course's emphasis is placed on using industry techniques to achieve professional-looking results. Take your garments from "home made" to "custom made." Bring your sewing questions, frustrations and current project to the last class. You will learn not only by getting help with your own project, but via the other students' problems and solutions. This course is made up of hands-on, lecture and demo with handouts. NOTE: This course has a materials fee (paid to the instructor at the first class). MATERIALS: Bring your sewing machine and two yards of muslin to class. PREREQUISITE: You should be comfortable with your sewing machine and making the most basic garments.

0 Credits Undeclared division Non Credit Courses Precious Christening gowns, smocked Easter dresses, and the most feminine nightgowns are examples of this beautiful, traditional style of sewing popular in Europe and the American South. Create an authentic heirloom quality baby bonnet using French, Swiss, and English cotton laces, fine batiste, and silk ribbon. Although heirloom garments look extremely intricate, they are actually quite easy to do with a simple zigzag sewing machine. You will learn to make tiny pintucks, join and insert the most delicate laces, and use entredeux and lace beading. This is suitable for the advanced beginner sewer. NOTE: This course has a materials fee (paid to the instructor at the first class). REQUIRED MATERIALS: Bring a zigzag-capable sewing machine on which you are comfortable making the most basic garments.

Explore for the first time or continue to discover what this innovative, nontoxic Precious Metal Clay (PMC) can become and how it can be manipulated, carved, formed, stamped, and kiln fired to turn into a one-of-a kind pure silver piece. NOTE: This course has a materials fee (paid to the instructor at the first class). Beginner's kit includes PMC Plus, tools, polishing/finishing materials, a lab grown gem stone and findings. This class will focus on how to use flexible beading wire (beadalon) and crimp beads to create a triple strand necklace in brown and gold tone beads. These elegant necklaces are bound to attract compliments. The second class will continue to use crimping pliers and beading wire. You will also be making a triple strand beaded watch using crystal, silver, and black beads. This class is open to the first time beader and students from Beading Basics I (NCC 143). This course has a materials fee (paid at the first class session) for a kit which includes crimping pliers, beadalon wire, crimp beads, clasps, watch components, and beads. Course is open to anyone ages 15 and up.

These Victorian style ornaments are a beautiful accent to a Christmas tree and are great sun catchers after the holidays. You will be working with seed beads which will be weaved in a pattern that comes together as a net. This net is then draped over an ornament of your choice. Display them on a computer, TV, or print them on paper. Learn the techniques that will make your photos really stand out. Course open to anyone ages 13 - adult. You should be proficient with your digital camera or have taken the Basic Digital Photography course before trying this class. Bring your camera software, cables & documentation with you to class.
