    2 Credits Undeclared division Health and Safety Institute This course is designed for personnel in the private sector interested in teaching the 10- and 30-hour construction safety and health outreach program to their employees and other interested groups. Special emphasis is placed on those topics that are required in the 10- and 30-hour programs as well as on those that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. Course participants are briefed on effective instructional approaches and the effective use of visual aids and handouts. This course allows students to become a trainer in the Outreach Program and to conduct both a 10- and 30-hour construction and safety health course and to issue cards to participants verifying course completion. This course is OSHA approved for 2.6 CEUs and 4.0 CMs. Prerequisite: HSI 185: OSHA 510 Construction Standards or equivalent and five years of construction safety experience. Note: Students in this course who wish to participate as authorized trainers in the Outreach Program must successfully pass a written exam at the end of the course. Outreach trainers are required to attend the OSHA 502 course, Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers, at least once every four years to maintain their trainer status. All participants must bring a current copy of the OSHA construction regulations, 29 CFR 1926, to the course. Private sector personnel who are not interested in conducting the 10- and 30-hour programs should enroll in HSI 185: OSHA 510 Construction.

You will be involved in field exercises, wearing chemical protective clothing and respirators. Participants who do not wear personal protection equipment during field exercises may obtain an alternative certificate. Pre-approved for NYS licensed water operators re-certification requirements. Meets OSHA requirements: CFR 1910.120(e)(3).

Students will cover the rudiments of collection systems: a basic overview, safe procedures for operators, inspection and testing, pipeline cleaning and maintenance, underground repair, lift stations, equipment maintenance and sewer rehabilitation. The course is enhanced with up-to-date photographs, interactive exercises, and links. This course is approved by the NY DEC for re-certification credit. This course concludes with a field trip which is followed by a final exam. One textbook is also required.

    0 Credits Undeclared division Health and Safety Institute Composting is the controlled process of organic degradation or waste decomposition. This web-based course will provide those taking the class with knowledge in the process of waste decomposition, an array or microorganisms and invertebrates consume the organics and convert them to humus. In the truest sense, solid waste composting is actually microbe farming, and like any type of farming, success has a lot to do with the farmer knowing how to make what he is raising thrive and grow. This class will meet or exceed most state requirements for the educational components of certification and/or licensing required for solid waste professionals. Successful completion of course (minimum 75% score) will receive SUNY Ulster certificate.
