This course covers the role of the technician, patient privacy, medical terminology, the cardiovascular and respiratory system, and the function of electrocardiography. The course also includes a clinical portion that will cover identifying normal anatomy of the chest, proper procedures for recording and mounting the standard 12-lead electrocardiogram, recording and measuring EKG tracings and recognition of abnormal tracings. Identify arrhythmias, atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation and many other cardiac conditions. As required by law this course is designed to respond to the requirement for a two hour certification course to be conducted for all educational staff in New York State as part of Section 413 of the New York Social Services Law. The course focuses on participants understanding their role as a mandated reporter, identifying the physical and behavioral indicators of child abuse and maltreatment, and understanding the immunity from liability and the penalties for failure to report. Certificates will be mailed.
