Applied, monitored and supervised, field-based learning experience for which the student may or may not be paid. Students gain practical experience; they follow a negotiated and or directed plan of study. A higher level of supervision is provided by the instructor in these courses than is the case with Field Experience courses. 1-12 credits

Principles of medical microbiology including a survey of the most clinically significant bacterial, fungal, parasitic, and viral diseases in the world, with an emphasis on those most prevalent in North America. Case studies will address: morphology, physiology, adn virulence of the microbes adn the epidemiology, treatment, and prevention of the diseases they cause. Prerequisite: BIOL 331 or CHEM 112 or CHEM 114. 4 credits

Handson instruction in an application software package. Basic concepts of the general category of software in use, as well as discussion of appropriate applications. 1-3 credits

An introduction to computer programming. Focus on problem solving, algorithm development, design, and programming concepts. Topics include sequence, selection, repetition, functions, and arrays. 3 credits.

This course covers advanced topics in word processing and spreadsheet applications such as macros, advanced functions, graphics, merging, linking, and transferring data. The course emphasizes the efficient use of software packages. Operating system/environment topics are also addressed. Prerequisite: MIS 105, or Placement Test Score of 70%. 3 credits

This course focuses on techniques and methods for writing specifically for the Internet. Topics will include designing and creating documents for the World Wide Web, design considerations, and publishing and maintaining Web sites. Students will use HTML, Web authoring software, and other software for Web development. Prerequisite: MIS 105 or MIS 205. 3 credits

Fundamental processes in the writing, assembling and design of publications, such as business reports, newsletters and trade journals, in a business or editorial office by the use of microcomputers, printers and scanners. Systems to be learned shall include Aldus Pagemaker. 3 credits
