(Prereq: NURS A315, NURS A324, and NURS A414; Coreq: NURS A419) Synthesis and critical evaluation of issues related to entry into professional nursing practice. Structured review of clinical nursing course content with emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving in the nursing profession.

(Prereq: Completion of all but 2 ICE events; completion of all nursing courses except NURS A418, NURS A421, and NURS A425; Coreq: NURS A418, NURS A421, and NURS A425) The pathophysiology of complex health conditions is examined using simulation and case studies. Students apply and test strategies and interventions related to the care of persons experiencing multisystem organ failure due to injury or illness.

Prereq: RN Licensure, NURS A307, NURS A309, NURS A312. In this course students synthesize knowledge from all previous courses as they learn the concepts of caring for both clients with complex health needs and clients requiring specialized healthcare facilities or intensive care.

(Prereq: Completion of all but 2 ICE requirements; completion of all nursing courses except NURS A418, NURS A419, and NURS A425; Coreq: NURS A418, NURS A419, and NURS A425) Students explore leadership and management principles using a systems framework to understand the professional nurse's role as a member of a multidisciplinary team within complex healthcare organizations. Essential skills for effective decision-making, priority setting, delegation, conflict management, and quality improvement are reinforced. Students will investigate an issue influencing healthcare delivery and identify feasible solutions nurse leaders could implement to address the issue.

(Prereq: RN Licensure, NURS A307, NURS A308, NURS A312) In this course students synthesize knowledge from all previous courses as they learn the concepts of caring for both clients with complex health needs and clients requiring specialized heathcare facilities or intensive care.

(Prereq: completion of NURS A315, NURS A324, and NURS A414; Coreq: NURS A418, NURS A419, and NURS A421; must be taken in last semester of program) NURS A425 is a clinical practicum course that focuses on the application of the nursing process for diverse clients with complex health needs. Emphasis is on collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to facilitate management of clients across the lifespan. Precepted clinical experiences and a project provide opportunities to apply leadership concepts and prepare the graduate to assume the role of a professional nurse.

(Prereq: completion of STAT A201, PSYC A325, BADM A296, or other statistics courses approved by the Dean of the School of Nursing) The course provides an introduction to analytical and critical thinking, scientific concepts, methods and decisions, ethical and legal concerns, and research techniques essential to the research process. Emphasis is placed on the nurse as a consumer of nursing reasearch.

(Prereq: completion of NURS A360, NURS A370) Theories of human development and the achievement and maintenance of healthy lifestyles of elders are explored.

(Prereqs: RN Licensure, NURS A350, NURS A360, NURS A370) Concepts of community health nursing are presented and applied in clinical settings, with emphasis on the community and the family as clients. Communicable disease control, principles of epidemiology, health promotion practices, family theories, and public health issues are addressed. (Four hours lecture/three hours lab per week.)

5.00 Credits
(Prereqs: RN Licensure, 2 out of 4 ICE requirements completed, and in last semester of program) Leadership and management concepts and principles for professional nursing practice. Emphasis on knowledge and skills that impact effective leadership and management roles. This course is the senior project and must be taken in the student's last semester. (Four lecture hours/three lab hours per week.)
