Course explores the basic prinicples, functions, uses, and legal aspects of life insurance and the life insurance industry. Types of policy contracts, including special policy provisions and riders, as well as the calculation of premiums and reserves are covered. Types of organizations, and the management and supervision of companies are discussed.

The emerging area of business sustainability provides substantial opportunities for business growth and new markets. Compliance is also necessary to meet new directions in evolving governmental laws, and ethical business standards. This course explores why and how leading companies use environmental strategies to innovate, create value, build competitive advantage, and meet legal standards. Together with strategic business analysis, the course provides the foundation and road map for the "greening" of sustainable business operations. The course is offered within the School of Business, but may be of special interest to biology, chemistry, and political science majors.

(Prereq: Grade of C or better in ENGL A102) This course provides an introduction to the foundations of business communications including an examination of methods, protocol, ethics, and cross-cultural aspects from an applied business perspective. Appropriate social interaction and engagement, within a managerial context, will also be discussed. Students develop and enhance business acumen through extensive business writing assignments (including business letters, memos, e-mails and reports), business presentations, role-plays, business case analysis, and mock interviews.

(Prereq: ECON A221 or ECON A222) Marketing functions, trade channels, price policies, expenses and profits of middlemen, and public policy with respect to marketing practices.
