Core Complement Course in Social Sciences Students develop an understanding of the nature of social problems and their effects on individuals, families, and communities, with a focus on issues of social justice. Particular emphasis is placed on the effects of racism, classism, sexism, and other forms of oppression in shaping the social condition. An integral part of the course is an indepth look at the commitment of sociologists and social workers to vulnerable groups, with attention given to the eradication of oppression in all its forms.
