POL 115: The American Political System:Its Institution and Its Struggles
3.00 Credits
Salve Regina University
Core Complement Course in Social Sciences Politics by definition is a struggle over limited power and resources in order to steer society in a desired direction. While this course may be organized along traditional institutional and behavioral lines, analytically it will focus on three themes: the struggles of this nation as it exercises its human capacity to find creative and just solutions to its collective problems; the concept of citizenship and its place in American politics and within a global context; and whether cross-cultural understanding is a systemic and moral imperative. The aim of this introductory course is not only to create good scholars, but also to create good citizens. 3 credits.
