This course is designed for law enforcement officers and security staff who will respond to the scene. No matter what the crime, the computer may hold valuable evidence. Should we search through the computer at the scene How do we properly seize computer equipment and related materials Improper handling or searching of equipment may lead to the loss of valuable evidence or may result in evidence not being allowed into a legal proceeding. Topics include: * proper shutdown of a pc * proper shutdown of a laptop * if the pc is off, should it be turned on * identification of storage media * determine if wireless is used * determine if a network is present * labeling of all devices, cables * bag and tag * proper transport * forensic examination of submitted media
