Expand on your existing knowledge of creating Web pages and Web sites using Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 to manage images, create tables and add user interactivity such as roll over images and menus. You will add and adjust the properties of graphics including setting a background image controlled by a style sheet and creating image maps with hot spots. You will build tables, import tabular data from spreadsheet files, and format both text and color properties of the table. You will also create layers and manage their size, position, stacking order, and visibility. Add interactivity to place layers under mouse control when viewed in a browser. Other topics include adding user interactivity, such as image rollover events, browser windows, and popup menus. Prerequisite: Dreamweaver 8 Level I or Equivalent

Gain additional advanced Web site development skills in this third workshop in a series on using Dreamweaver 8. You will create page templates, modify the editable regions, establish optional content regions. From that one template you will build multiple pages with different layouts and appearance. Collecting information from web visitors is an important component of successful web sites. You will learn to build a complete form, divide the form content into groups, add form elements, make the form accessible, and format the form using a style sheet. You will also learn how to use Dreamweaver file management features to set up a remote site, select recently modified pages, and transfer pages to and from the remote site. Other topics include working with the Tag Selector and the Quick Tag Editor in HTML code view to make custom edits and exploring the Find and Replace feature to change content or modify tags and tag attributes within one page or across an entire site. Prerequisite: Dreamweaver 8 Level I and Level II or equivalent.

Part of the Dreamweaver studio, Fireworks makes image preparation for the web a snap. In this workshop you will learn the basics of image properties such as file formats, color depth, and resolution. Use Fireworks drawing tools to create geometric shapes. With the pen tool you can trace complex shapes to silhouette items or recreate them as stylized drawings. You will retouch images using tools such as blur, sharpen, smudge and the rubber stamp tool. Add text with font, style, color and effects such as bending text to follow a curve. Export created images as web-ready graphics for use with Macromedia Dreamweaver or other web authoring tools.

Dynamic Web pages expand the capabilities of a Web site to customize the output depending on actions taken by a visitor or on values collected from a data source. Students will create dynamic Web pages using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and test them on a local Web server. Students will explore the concepts of server-side scripting, using VBScript and Active Server Pages. Combine the power of databases with Web pages to build an interactive site with directory and search capabilities, drill-down information delivery, search update forms for administrative management, and a security system to restrict administrative access.

Macromedia Flash is an excellent tool for creating multimedia ranging from simple animations to complex menu-driven interactive media. In this workshop you will become familiar with the Flash components such as the stage, library, time line and panels and the basic concepts of animation. Create both basic and complex shapes and control fill, stroke, and gradient properties of the created objects. Using a context sensitive tool, you can adjust curves and lines that are part of more complex shapes. You will use the text tools to create button texts as well as extended text blocks. Arrange your created elements on individual layers, and using the timeline, produce a frame-by-frame animation. Knowledge of design concepts is helpful.
