The purpose of this course is to explore hospice care in England. Students will work in a hospice in Cambridge, England, where they will have the opportunity to participate in the many aspects of hospice care including in-patient care, a day care program, home care, the use of alternative, occupational and physical therapies and a lymphodema clinic. Seminars, informal discussions, and clinical experience will focus on how persons with a life-limiting illness and their families are assisted in coping with their psychosocial and physical needs. Any person is welcome in the course, but should have some prior knowledge of hospice care. Clinical experiences will be tailored according to the student's desires and expertise. Significant additional costs. 2 cr. (1 Lec., 2 Lab.) Occasionally.

Search tools are reviewed, but the emphasis is on evaluation and critical reading of sources. Some class time is devoted to discussion of critical issues involving the role of information in society such as privacy, civil liberties, free speech and disinformation.
