Cultural analysis will include discussion of French literature, history, art, politics, geography, immigration and gender issues. The media (newspapers, magazines, TV programs, films and popular music) will be an important part in the study of contemporary France, but students will also read excerpts of writers that represent the changing French identity in the European and Global perspective. The texts will be drawn from the early twentieth century to contemporary postcolonial authors.
