The class stresses all language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) through a communicative approach, as well as cultural topics. The class provides a general background of Hispanic populations, especially those largely represented in the U.S. This is not a conversation class, but there is an emphasis on oral communication. Conducted mainly in Spanish. Students with previous knowledge of the language are encouraged to take the placement examination.
