XRAY 1222: Radiation Biology

This course provides the student with a current and thorough overview of the bioeffects of radiation. It provides comprehensive coverage of the physical principles and technical aspects of radiation protection in diagnostic radiology. Summarizes the need to provide radiation safety measures during the implementation of ionizing radiation to the patient. This course will be taught the 1st 8-weeks of the semester. Students will learn the basic principles of mammography, radiation therapy, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, PET, and angiography. Field trips to local hospitals may be arranged in order for the students to observe the various modalities.
