This course focuses on special formatting and enhancement techniques for documents; merging documents and sorting and selecting data; sharing documents; creating tables of contents and indexes; recording, running and editing macros; and creating fill-in forms. A continuation of beginning medical transcription, this course will focus on abbreviations, anatomy, terminology and pronunciation, and transcription tips for the following areas; dentistry/oral surgery, psychiatry, ophthalmology, pediatrics, plastic surgery, neurology, hematology, oncology, urology, respiratory/pulmonary, gastroenterology, orthopedics, pathology, radiology, cardiology, and surgery. This course provides basic technical and graphic arts concepts essential for all students and professional desktop publishers, print industry practices, and the typography terminology needed to efficiently use a desktop publishing system. Students will use desktop publishing software to develop professional-looking publications, including newsletters, advertisements, stationery, flyers, business cards, announcements, and use HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) in the desktop publishing software to create documents to post on the Web.
