1 Credit This course will concentrate on the installation and implementation of an individual income tax package using a microcomputer. Consequently, a good working knowledge of IRS tax forms is very beneficial to obtain the most from this course. Initial setup, general operating information, menu options, tax preparation, forecasting, tax record keeping, tax planning and instructions for printing the IRS tax forms will be covered. Data entry exercises will be performed for various tax problems. Requires familiarity with IRS tax forms and basic Windows operating system skills are very beneficial. Lecture and Laboratory 1 hour.

It will include the setup and configuration of the software and the use and reporting of modules including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Inventory. The financial statements will be produced as well as other reports. This class will include lecture and in-class simulation. Lecture and Laboratory 1 hour. Prerequisite: Working knowledge of accounting and computers.

1 Credit This course includes the review and use of this powerful accounting tool for both accountants and non-accountants to: 1) record sales, track accounts receivable and accounts payable, 2) record expenses and pay bills, 3) track receipts and shipments/sales of inventory as well as inventory analysis, 4) document work estimates, activity by jobs, and employees/contractors time for invoicing and payroll, 5) process employee payroll, print paychecks, prepare quarterly and annual payroll reports and print W-2 forms, and 6) analyze accounting information through the preparation of various reports including balance sheet and income statement. Lecture and Laboratory 1 hour. Prerequisite: Working knowledge of accounting and computers.

3 Credits A bridge from Financial Accounting to Intermediate Accounting I with emphasis on measuring/recording business transactions, adjusting entries, the accounting cycle, preparation and interpretation of financial statements, merchandising and manufacturing operations, time value of money and accounting theory. Recommend concurrent enrollment with Managerial Accounting, ACC 2223. Lecture 3 hours. No Laboratory. Prerequisites: ACC 2213 with a grade of "C" or better.
