The cutting edge risk management policies and implementation procedures are examined. The internal and external sources of risk and the methods of mitigating cost of loss through risk avoidance, loss control, risk retention and insurance and non-insurance risk transfers are investigated. Topics include: legal environment, strategic (vertical) risk management, holistic (horizontal)risk management, derivatives, hedging and portfolio theory, and international risk management.

International Finance is primarily concerned with the impact of exchange rate risk exposure, the cost of funds, capital budgeting, direct investment and cash management. This course focuses on the financial management aspects of the multinational corporation that is impacted by exchange rate movements. Discussions include measurements of exchange rate exposure; management of receivables and payables exposed to exchange rate risk; hedging strategies using futures, forwards and options; capital budgeting; and managment of political risk . Offered every year. Prerequisites: BU4770, BU4762; permission of the instructor.

This culminating multi-disciplinary course is designed to integrate knowledge and skills of financial analysis, planning, organizing, directing, and control. The course is intended to be taken during the senior year. Through case studies and reports, students integrate and apply strategic planning and critical thinking and communication skills to corporate treasury functions and governance, from the perspective of a chief financial officer. Emphasizes the environment in which international marketing takes place; deals with product, pricing, distribution, and promotion strategies of international marketing managers; examines ways of integrating and coordinating the firm's marketing programs in diverse markets.
