HIND 100: Beginning Hindi

This is a 3-credit course on Conversational Hindi, known as India's 'National Language.' The purpose is to acquaint students with Hindi basics, and deals mainly with the core skills required for reading and writing. The nasic objectives of the course are to enable the students to understand simple Hindi sentences and to be able to converse in ordinary day-to-day situations. teaching of Hindi will start with simple words and pharses. Gradually basic structures in Hindi grammar and their use in day-to-day Hindi language will be taught.

The course will be team-taught by two faculty members from different departments and may feature guest faculty discussants from other departments at various points throughout the course.

Honors Colloquia focus on interdisciplinary topics. These courses are designed specifically for Honors students. Topics vary across the disciplines. Prerequisites: Juniors and seniors in the Honors Program. Course Adaption for Honors Credit: Students should approach and ask the faculty member if the course could be taken for Honors credit. The student would fulfill all regular requirements of the course plus additional responsibilities decided on by the professor and student. These could include additional readings, research, papers, and/or related projects. The student should then fill out the Adapted Course Form and return copies to the Honors Program Directors and the Registrar.
