    The fourth clinical course which offers opportunities for application of program concepts. Requires participation in the performance of all aspects of patient care and radiographic imaging under the supervision of clinical staff.   • 2.50 Credits

    Introduces the student to radiologic technology. Discusses the roles of medical imagers and the images they produce. Radiation protection of technologists, patients and others is discussed. Medical terminology is introduced and applied. In lab, radiographic imaging procedures and the resultant image evaluation criteria of the chest, abdomen and urinary system are emphasized. Simulated lab experiences are planned to provide the student opportunities to apply principles and skills learned.

    Patient communication, human growth and development, and death and dying are presented. Effective methods of interacting with patients who have special needs are discussed. In lab, radiographic imaging procedures and the resultant image evaluation criteria of the upper and lower extremities are emphasized. Simulated lab experiences are planned to provide the student opportunities to apply principles and skills learned.

    Studies factors that govern the image production and image quality analysis process. Included are the importance of optimal imaging standards and problem-solving techniques. Digital imaging components, principles and operation are discussed. Film imaging with related accessories is introduced. In lab, radiographic imaging procedures and the resultant image evaluation criteria of the pelvis and digestive system are emphasized. Simulated lab experiences are planned to provide the student opportunities to apply principles and skills learned. Prerequisite:    RAD 111 Corequisite:    RAD 102
  • 5.00 Credits

    Examines the components, function and use of imaging equipment to perform diagnostic radiographic, mobile, fluoroscopic, tomographic and computed tomography procedures. Studies radiation protection and radiographic exposure factors including automatic exposure control. Discusses common special radiographic procedures and associated image critique. In lab, radiographic imaging procedures and the resultant image evaluation criteria of the skull, spine and trauma patient are emphasized. Simulated lab experiences are planned to provide the student opportunities to apply principles and skills learned. Prerequisite:    RAD 102 and RAD 113 and BIO 211 and MIT 211 Corequisite:    RAD 103 and RAD 104 and ENG 111 or ENG 111

    The fifth clinical course which offers opportunities for application of program concepts.     The seventh clinical course which offers opportunities for application of program concepts. Requires participation in the performance of all aspects of patient care and radiographic imaging under the supervision of clinical staff. Satisfactory completion of clinical competency with continual refinement of the competencies achieved is required. Prerequisite:    RAD 201
