Covers the identification, cultural practices, and the landscape use of over 150 woody trees, shrubs, vines and ground cover plants, including some rare and unusual plants. Discussion focuses on the right and wrong uses of landscape plants.

Discusses procedures and practices in diagnosing and treating insects and plant diseases, both infectious and non-infectious, on woody ornamentals.

Focuses on the care and maintenance of ornamental trees and shrubs, including transplanting, pruning, fertilizing and special care situations.

Study the practical approach to designing, estimating and constructing brick patios, retaining walls and wood decks through both classroom exercises and hands-on outdoor laboratories. Landscape installation and maintenance estimating will also be included.

Covers drainage, irrigation designs, hydraulics, maintenance and installation of residential and golf course irrigation systems.

Covers the identification, use, and cultural requirements of herbaceous annuals, perennials, bulbs and ornamental grass plants.

This course presents an overview of greenhouse systems and crop production, including providing an understanding of crop scheduling, growing media, pest management, and fertility. The class will explore business management and the supply chain of the industry.

Interviewing, job opportunities and job searching within the landscape, turf grass and related horticultural industries are discussed.

Emphasizes scheduling, budgeting and other management issues. Labs will be the practical approach to mowing, fertilizing, pesticide applications, aerifying, topdressing and other related maintenance practices.

Introduces landscape graphics, such as lettering, freehand drawing, presentation plans, sections and elevations with selected topics in specialized areas of drawing and drafting.
