    This course covers deploying the current Windows operating system including skills such as post implementation configuration, managing local users, managing local groups and devices, configuring data access and protection using local policies, and managing Windows security. Students will configure network connectivity, remote connectivity, configure system and data recovery, learn to manage updates, and to monitor and manage Windows through event logs and performance apps. This course will prepare students for the corresponding Microsoft certification exams. Students will take the TestOut Client Pro certification exam.

Topics include Network Cabling & Hardware Devices, Switching & Routing, Network Security, Network Addressing & Services, Specialized Networks, Hardening & Update Management, Ethernet & Wireless Networking, Wide Area Networks (WANs), Network Optimization & Troubleshooting, Firewalls & Intrusion Detection, and Network Operations & Management. Students will complete network drawings using Visio software to build their skills. A simulated environment is used as well as hands-on experiences for those students taking this course in the classroom. A general understanding of operating systems and computer hardware is recommended. Students may earn the TestOut Network Pro Certification. Students prepare for the CompTIA Network+ Certification

    This course provides an overview of network security, compliance, and operation security. It is aligned to the CompTIA's Security+ exam. It introduces and explains the various types of threats and vulnerabilities that qualify as cybercrime and breeches of information security. Key topics include confidentiality, integrity, and availability of assets and classification, identification, and elimination of threats including malware and internal and external hackers. Incident response techniques and development of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans are covered, as well as an emphasis on appropriate ethical responses and effective written and verbal communication to stakeholders. This course will prepare students for the CompTIA Security+ certification. Students will take the TestOut Security Pro certification exam. Prerequisite:    IST 175

    This course introduces the student to the Linux platform and how to perform tasks commonly used by IT professionals in supporting a Linux environment. Students will learn real-world job tasks including managing hardware and software components, managing networks, managing users and file systems, setting up new systems, system and user security measures, and general proficiency with the Linux command line.
