The necessary analytical skills of differential diagnosis needed in the clinical environment are emphasized. Correlation with other imaging modalities along with pertinent history and laboratory data is discussed. The interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships of the imaging department and patient management skills will be included. Prerequisite:    DMS 213 Corequisite:    DMS 215 and DMS 217

The necessary analytical skills of different diagnoses needed in the clinical environment are emphasized. Correlation with other imaging modalities along with pertinent history and laboratory data is discussed. The interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships of the imaging department and patient management skills will be included. Medical/legal ethics involving new techniques for obstetric patients are discussed. Prerequisite:    DMS 204 and DMS 216 Corequisite:    DMS 218 and DMS 220

    Review of venous anatomy and physiology. Examines pathology and pathophysiology of the venous system with age specific comparisons. The necessary analytical skills of differential diagnosis needed in the clinical environment are emphasized. Correlation with other imaging modalities along with pertinent history and laboratory data is discussed. The interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships of the imaging department and patient management skills will be included. Prerequisite:    DMS 205 and DMS 217 Corequisite:    DMS 219 and DMS 221

    Prepares students for successful completion of the ARDMS credentialing exam in sonography through registry review activities. Prepares students for future professional development. Emphasizes professional behaviors, communication, practice standards, and program accreditation. A professional portfolio, resume, and cover letter are developed to be used in conjunction with the interviewing techniques discussed in class. Covers continuing education and opportunities for professional advancement. Guest lectures covering various topics will be scheduled to enhance learning objectives. Prerequisite:    DMS 204 or DMS 205 Corequisite:    DMS 208 or DMS 209
  • 3.00 Credits

    Introduces the student to clinical education. Lectures will include clinical expectations, clinical paperwork, peer discussion, clinical issues and reflection of clinical experiences. Includes correlation of pertinent history/assessment, laboratory tests, including other imaging modalities, as well as interpersonal relationships of the imaging department and patient management. Protocols of the upper abdomen, superficial structures, pediatric exams, the pelvis and obstetrics will be reviewed. Prerequisite:    DMS 104 and DMS 106

    The first clinical course which offers opportunities for application of program concepts at an introductory level . Requires participation in the performance of all aspects of patient care and vascular imaging under the supervision of clinical staff. Satisfactory completion of clinical competency with continual refinement of the competencies achieved is required. Prerequisite:    DMS 104 and DMS 105
  • 3.00 Credits

    The second clinical course which offers opportunities for application of program concepts. Requires participation in the performance of all aspects of patient care and sonographic imaging under the supervision of clinical staff. Satisfactory completion of clinical competency with continual refinement of the competencies achieved is required. Prerequisite:    DMS 212
  • 3.00 Credits

    The second clinical course which offers opportunities for application of program concepts at an advanced beginner level. Requires participation in the performance of all aspects of patient care and vascular imaging under the supervision of clinical staff. Satisfactory completion of clinical competency with continual refinement of the competencies achieved is required. Prerequisite:    DMS 213

    The third clinical course which offers opportunities for application of program concepts. Requires participation in the performance of all aspects of patient care and sonographic imaging under the supervision of clinical staff. Satisfactory completion of clinical competency with continual refinement of the competencies achieved is required.
