Students will use various software utilities to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize the operations of PCs. Topics include troubleshooting fundamentals and support techniques in a PC environment. This course provides a basic survey of the importance of Information Technology (IT) security awareness and data confidentiality. It covers all aspects of information security in broad, easy to understand concepts and explains the value of securing data, both for individuals and organizations. Hands-on exercises will demonstrate several course concepts. The course introduces legislation, local, state, and federal privacy policies and liability of individuals and institutions related to data confidentiality and integrity. It also introduces risk management, security policies, and common threats and countermeasures. In addition, the course presents best practices in access control and password policies. Prerequisite: ITIS 1000 or ITIS 1005 or permission of instructor This course provides an overview of the Internet including services, tools, and Web page creation. Topics also include a brief history of the Internet, refined searching techniques, and societal issues. Students will use a browser program with special emphasis on the functions of E-mail, mailing lists (Listservs), Newsgroups, chatting, search engine usage, and file transfer protocol. They will also use basic HTML code to design and create Web pages. (3 contact hours: 1 lecture, 2 lab)

Prerequisite: ITCS 1105 or permission of instructor This course provides continued instruction in the use of HTML. Students will build on skills and knowledge from ITCS 1105 Introduction to HTML and incorporate the use of an HTML editor program. Students will use this web authoring tool to develop web pages and use templates and wizards/coaches to simplify web page development. (3 contact hours: 1 lecture, 2 lab)

Students will examine Internet fundamentals; Internet clients; web development tools and concepts; networking hardware, software, protocols, and topologies; security concepts and features; and e-business concepts and models. Prerequisite: ITIS 1100 or permission of instructor Flash is a technology being used within Web-based applications as well as with PDA's, mobile phones, and game programming. This introductory course presents the basics of Flash programming, explores the elements of Flash user interface and the use of symbols, and introduces ActionScript, the scripting language used to communicate with Flash. Students will work with graphics, text, sound, video, animation, and movies. (3.25 contact hours: 0.75 lecture, 2.5 lab)

Prerequisite: ITIS 1000 or ITIS 1005 or permission of instructor This course provides a comprehensive study of dynamic, electronic forms in a Microsoft Windows environment. Students will design, create, and edit InfoPath forms; interface forms with business data collected and delivered to an XML (Extensible Markup Language) compatible database; and publish to the Internet with XSL (Extensible Stylesheet Language). The course also includes the advanced topics of creating and using data source templates, script editing, and binding data to back-end systems for line of business (LOB) applications. The course helps students design Web sites by focusing on information presentation and audience considerations as well as features and tools available to enhance sites. (1 contact hour)
