Prerequisite: ECTA 2310 This course introduces the importance of proper grounding techniques and methods and explores the electrical conductivity of the earth and its relationship to grounding systems. The course also presents an introduction to DC and AC motors. A separate laboratory experience will provide students with opportunities to apply and work with concepts learned in the classroom setting. (6 contact hours: 3 lecture, 3 lab)

Prerequisite: ECTA 2400 This course provides a continuation of the topics presented in ECTA 2400 Advanced Electrical Construction Technology IIA. Students will continue to develop an understanding of electrical theory and apply concepts in a separate laboratory experience. The course examines both DC and AC motors in detail and explores methods of motor control. (6 contact hours: 3 lecture, 3 lab)

Prerequisite: ECTA 2410 This course introduces the various modes of control used in the process control industry. It also provides information on various types of sensors, safety factors, installation, testing instruments, and tests for measuring dielectric quality, and locating and testing faults. A separate laboratory experience will provide the students with opportunities to apply and work with concepts learned in the classroom setting.(6 contact hours: 3 lecture, 3 lab)

Prerequisite: ECTA 2500 This course provides a continuation of the topics presented in ECTA 2500 Instrumentation and Testing A. Students will continue to develop an understanding of electrical theory and apply concepts in a separate laboratory experience. In addition, the course presents information on telephone and alarm systems, system installations and start-up, and fiber optic cabling. (6 contact hours: 3 lecture, 3 lab)

It explores the history of American education, personal and professional characteristics of successful teachers, the teaching and learning process, and current and future issues in education. Prerequisite: ECED 1130 or EDUC 1150 or permission of instructor This course is an introduction to the study of exceptional individuals in various community-based settings. It emphasizes terminology, legislation, philosophy, identification, and educational diagnosis. It also provides theoretical and practical information for parents or teachers to help in early intervention. Students must complete fifteen hours of field experience. (3 contact hours)

Prerequisite: EDUC 1150, EDUC 2031 (can be taken concurrently) This course discusses behavior management techniques as well as the theories used to develop basic standards of student behavior in the K-12 classroom. It also presents practical methods for creating a positive learning environment, for working with behavior problems, and for dealing with a range of challenges in the K-12 classroom. (2 contact hours)

Prerequisite: ECED 2160 (can be taken concurrently), EDUC 2031 (can be taken concurrently), EDUC 2032 (can be taken concurrently), EDUC 2300 (can be taken concurrently), PSYC 2200 (can be taken concurrently) This course introduces prospective teacher aides to the range of teaching methodologies that may be used in K-12 classrooms and in remediation settings. It also gives students practical, hands-on experience in the K-12 classroom, where they are invited to observe and then practice a range of teaching methodologies. Students come to understand that educators have systematically studied their own practice in the search for tools and models that help to expand student learning. Students will explore various topics, including the creation of communities of learners, students as partners in learning, and the augmenting of basic thinking skills.(10 contact hours: 3 lecture, 7 lab)

Prerequisite: EDUC 1150 This course provides an introduction to instructional technology that can improve teaching and learning in schools or organizations where education and communication is critical. Students will use and evaluate media technology by creating learning projects that are innovative and consistent with basic learning strategies. Students must complete five hours of field experience focusing on classroom technology.(4 contact hours: 2 lecture, 2 lab)

Prerequisite: EDUC 1150 This course examines the school in its cultural context. It emphasizes the historical, social, economic, and political forces that shape current educational discourse. The course also places special emphasis on the role of diversity in schools. Students must complete twenty hours of field experiences. (3 contact hours)
