Required on-campus meetings, experiences and assignments are followed by a resident outdoor experience at Cortland's Outdoor Education Center at Raquette Lake, N.Y.     This course is a specialty (level 2) open water diver program designed to teach advanced diving skills in the areas of underwater navigation, diver stress and rescue and night diving. Completion of classroom, pool and open water work will lead to internationally recognized Specialty (level 2) Diver certification. Prerequisite: PED 232. (1 cr. hr.)     Seeks to provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge to plan and implement appropriate physical education programs for students with disabilities in integrated settings. Emphasizes the adaptation of physical education to needs of children with physical, intellectual, emotional or sensory disabilities. Strategies for program planning and implementation include writing IEPs, activity/equipment adaptation and techniques of teaching. Prerequisite: EDU 300 or 255, 256, successful completion of EDU 256 field experience/presentation to faculty, enrollment in EDU 355 (completion or concurrent), and cumulative grade point average of 2.5.     This course is designed as an introductory level basketball class. The course will focus on the development of all fundamental basketball skills. The course will incorporate individual play into more complicated team tactical concepts along with an emphasis on rules governing play.     Students will learn developmentally appropriate ways to teach the sport of football in school physical education and athletic settings.     This course will involve students in a learning environment centered on the technical and tactical aspects of soccer. Experiences will focus on acquiring skills and basic strategies using a tactical concepts style to teaching team sports. Learning processes will be developed within the games approach. Exposure to proper methodology and developmentally appropriate activities will help prepare students for subsequent teaching experiences (including adaptive modifications).
