    The UC Symphony Orchestra is specifically for and is designed to provide students with an opportunity to rehearse and perform great orchestral repertoire. Membership in the orchestra is open to instrumentalists who own their own instrument, have a basic technical proficiency, and the ability to read music. Specific seating assignments in the orchestra are determined by informal auditions at the start of each quarter.

    Placement Ensemble is a "holding course" or "placement course" that, by registering, allows a student to pre-register into a CCM ensemble, prior to auditions and placement into an ensemble specified by the CCM faculty. After receiving final ensemble placement, faculty will process student registration from "Placement Ensemble" to an assigned ensemble.

This professional preparation includes exposure to a diverse body of repertoire, as well as ongoing interaction with notable composers, conductors, and soloists. Chamber Choir performs two, three, or four concerts per semester at both CCM and off campus venues. The ensemble's repertoire spans music of the Renaissance through the 21st century, encompassing standard repertory and recent works, and featuring CCM student soloists. Ensemble participation is by audition only, and is designed to help its members show sensitivity and empathy to their colleagues, while contributing their own interpretive ideas and responding to those of others.

Ensemble participation is by audition only, and is designed to help its members show sensitivity and empathy to their colleagues, while contributing their own interpretive ideas and responding to those of others.

    Advanced professional level jazz ensemble of 17-20 members which performs a wide variety of styles from historical swing, bebop, post-bop, fusion, and Latin, to avant-garde. Special emphasis is placed on the idiom's great art-music composers such as Thad Jones, Bill Holman, Bob Brookmeyer, and Maria Schneider, on historic re-creations such as Ellington, Basie, Herman and Kenton, and on the performance of student arrangements and compositions.
