Topics include the nature of pre-contact Indian and European cultures; the impact of European disease, plants and animals on Native peoples; and the encounter of Indian and European cosmologies, economies and methods of warfare. Will also consider how Indian-European contact transformed constructs of gender, ethnicity and race. 3 Cr.
