    Introduction to the concepts and principles of palliative nursing care across the lifespan and the role of the professional nurse in promoting excellence in end-of-life care. Students analyze factors that influence care and the role of nurse advocate for the dying in relation to the physical, emotional, existential and spiritual domains of the dying experience. Students explore their personal views and beliefs about death and dying. Guidelines for quality care at end-of-life related to pain and symptom management are analyzed. 2 cr.

    This course is designed as an elective course for the nursing student considering an oncology specialty or those who have a general interest in the subject material. It will help serve as a working foundation for general oncology nursing practice through exploration of physical, psychological and societal implications of cancer for patients and families. Students will formulate nursing diagnoses and interventions for patients with a variety of cancer typologies, using current literature and research to support practice. Selected topics will cover some of the main content areas covered on the ONCC certification exam. Var. cr.

    Advanced course consisting of an in-depth study and analysis of common critical-care clinical problems. In addition, students use the clinical-practice setting of critical care for direct and immediate application of knowledge to practice. Students use knowledge of biophysical, psychosocial, developmental and spiritual dimensions of patients as a basis for continuing development and refinement of critical thinking and sound, clinical decision making. var. cr.

    Nursing theory, research and nursing as developing profession; organizational structure, current issues, ethical dilemmas, future directions; expansion of personal philosophy. Critique of nursing research included. Selected nursing theorists presented. Prerequisites: NURS 320-322; 323 (RNs only); 351-353 and 360-362; 363 (prerequisite or corequisite depending on program); 364 (RNs only); and 365. Corequisites: NURS 361 (RN Acceleratedl Track).

Independent study may be used as a nursing elective if course meets guidelines for nursing electives or as a general elective to meet degree requirements. 1-4 cr.     An introduction to the design, planning and control of systems that produce goods and services. Topics include quality management, forecasting, product design, capacity planning, facility layout, MRP, just-in time manufacturing, scheduling, project planning and inventory management. Prerequisite: sophomore standing. Corequisites: MIS 311 and CQS 311.

    Supplements other courses in the business curriculum by discussing decision making and risk management using spreadsheet analysis. Improves students' decision-making ability in an uncertain and complex environment. Teaches techniques widely used to assess and manage risk, structure problems, determine the optimal decision and estimate the impact of a decision on performance measures of interest. Through cases, lectures and exercises, sharpens students' problem-solving skills and analytical and logical thinking ability. Greatly enhances students' proficiency in spreadsheet analysis and modeling, an invaluable skill in today's business environment in which spreadsheets, with 40 million users, have become the primary platform for business analysis. For students interested in a career in general consulting or as analysts in the areas of finance, marketing or MIS.
