This lecture and laboratory course requires a seniorlevel life science student to apply their theoretical and experimental expertise to: 1) the development of a simple, but relevant, scientific question and its theoretical or experimental solution; 2) the identification of a basic, practical, biological problem, and its appropriate solution by analysis, simulation, or hardware development. The instructor will assign students to the laboratories of appropriate faculty or other professionals. The instructor will oversee their mentorship and progress. During the lecture periods, the instructor will overview project management theory, practical problem solving, oral and written communication skills, and overall progress on activities. Prerequisite: Senior-level status in a life science discipline.
