This course is a more advanced and focused study of the narrative, dramatic, and poetic practices of cinema, within one of four revolving subject/topic areas: A) Film Genre, B) Film Authorship, C) Film and Society, D) Film Form. Precise issues and methods vary, ranging from general and specific considerations of how a given subject area involves film theory, criticism and history, to the subject area's use in diverse analyses of selected national cinemas, periods, movements, and film- makers.
