Includes coverage of sequential, random, and indexed file structures and processing techniques, use of data base management systems, screen design techniques, system maintenance, and development of programs and systems of programs for batch and interactive environments using contemporary programming languages. Introduction to relational database concepts, and all issues related to the design and implementation of relational database systems. Emphases include entity relationships modeling, normalization, and structured query language (SQL). Students apply technical concepts through implementation of a database project. Provides a foundation in basic Oracle database administrative tasks. Students introduced to the Oracle database architecture, and how various software components relate to an actual database implementation. Examines the means to create, tune, monitor, and manage an operational database effectively. Lectures and discussions reinforced with hands-on practice.
