(Cross-listed with PES 141) 1Credit, 2 Hours This course is designed for the student who is a swimmer and who wishes to improve swim stroke technique and develop total body fitness through varieties of swim training techniques. Students must have a background in swimming.

(Cross-listed with PES 146) 2 Credit, 4 Hours Prerequisite: Pass a pre-course swim test: Swim 300yards & retrieve a 101b. brick in 7ft. of water This course will teach American Red Cross Lifeguard Training skills. Students must be 15 years old and a strong swimmer. Students will become certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED. Students must pass a pre-course swi m test that will be conducted the first day of class in order to resume receiving certification. The pre-course test consist on a 300 yard swim and a 7-10ft. surface dive retrieving a 10lb. brick from the bottom of the pool.

1 Credit, 2 Hours Backpacking is designed to give each student an opportunity to develop the basic skills, knowledge and appreciation for outdoor living in the wilderness. The seminar and independent study methods will be used to review the basic skill. The strength of this course lies in the fact that your actually take the day and overnight trip you plan and organize in the class.

1 Credit, 2 Hours This curse is designed to introduce the student to the lifetime sport of racquetball. It will cover the basic fundamentals of the game: safety, grip, basic strokes of forehand and backhand, serve, volley, overhead and lob. Strategy of both singles and doubles play will be covered, as well as etiquette and rules of play.

1 Credit, 2 Hours This course is designed for the student who wishes to participate in bowling for personal enjoyment and satisfaction. The course will focus on the skills necessary to develop an interest in bowling as a lifetime sport.

1 Credit, 2 Hours The purpose of the course is to design a personal pre-season conditioning program for snowboarding/skiing and to make four independent trips during the winter session. The course starts in the middle of the fall semester, giving students an opportunity to shape up, plan trips, check equipment, set skiing goals and review rules of safety and courtesy. There will be seven weekly seminars for planning and conditioning. Students will meet twice a week for 75 minute periods in the SUNY Rockland Community College weight room to design an individual workout based on pretest results and model workout programs. The course is designed for the downhill skier, the cross-country skier, and the snowboarder at every level of skill.

3 Credits, 3 Hours An introduction to the performing arts of dance, music, theatre and cinema as art forms which exhibit a particular language skill, craft and institution. Required of all performing arts majors and is taught in seminar format by means of lecture, discussion, participation, and performance attendance designated at the beginning of the course. Students will be required to attend student and professional performances on campus

3 Credits, 3 Hours A beginning class in basic modern dance techniques with or without previous training. This course provides the basics in technique and terminology. Instruction includes exercises for developing proper dance alignment, flexibility, coordination, sense of rhythm and strength. Exploration of personal expression through movement. (Satisfactory course completion fulfills one credit of the Physical Education requirement).

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: PER 112 A second-level class in Modern Dance techniques requiring the first level as previous training. This course continues to develop the basics in dance techniques and terminology at the level two. (Satisfactory course completion fulfills one credit of the Physical Education requirement).
