4 Credits, 8.5 Hours Prerequisite: NUR 103 (if clinical calculations competency test not passed) NUR 106, NUR III, NUR 113, NUR 141, NUR 142, NUR 231, NUR 232, ENG 101, ENG 102, BIO IIO, BIO III, BIO207, CHMIOS, PDA, 101, PED (3), PSY 103, PSY191, PSY212 and current AHA Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification Pre-co-requisite: A 3-credit elective The nursing process is applied to meeting the needs of patients across the life span with multiple health problems. Normal physiological, psychological and social changes are considered, as well as health problems due to deviations from the normal. Laboratory experiences are provided in pediatric health care settings in the community and in the nursing laboratory. Also included is a capstone management of care experience.

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: Placement into ENG101 An introduction to the principles of occupational therapy and its relation to other health-care disciplines. The student spends eighteen (18) additional hours in an occupational therapy field site during the semester, observing and participating in the delivery of occupational therapy services. Students must be admitted to the Occupational Therapy program before registering for this course.

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: BIO 110 A study of etiology, pathology and clinical manifestations of medical conditions commonly referred to occupational therapy. Clinical Conditions is a required course in the Occupational Therapy Assistant curriculum.

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: OCC 101, OCC 102, OCC 105 Pre- or co-requisite: BIO HI and OCC 107 This course is designed to introduce students to various evaluation and treatment tools utilized by occupational therapist. In addition, students are provided with an in-depth look at the human skeletal, muscular and nervous systems. Students are guided through each evaluation tool including, but not limited to, the evaluation of the upper extremity as well as evaluating coordination, sensation, edema, ROM and strength. Students will also be instructed in rationale and procedures for splinting and various treatment interventions.

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: OCC 101, OCC 102, OCC 105 and BIO 110 A study of the therapeutic values of selected occupations in cooking, horticulture, woodworking, needlecrafts and ceramics as utilized in self care and work performance by occupational therapy. Both skill development in the occupations as well as their application, adaptation and analysis will be emphasised.

5 Credits, 320 Hours Prerequisite: Successful completion of the OTA curriculum The application of occupational therapy treatment techniques in varied areas of occupational therapy practice. Supervised clinical placements will be provided. Other time sequences may be possible. Can be taken only when all course work is successfully completed. Prior to the i nception of f ieldwork the student will attend a mandatory fieldwork seminar.

Supervised clinical placements will be provided. Other time sequences may be possible. Can be taken only when all course work is successfully completed. Prior to the i nception of fieldwork the student will attend a mandatory fieldwork seminar.

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: OCC 101, OCC 102, OCC 105, PSY103 and 191 A survey of the special problems and conditions that accompany the process of aging. Specific goals and objectives of occupational therapy geriatric treatment programs are explored. Field trips to sites of geriatric care arranged.

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: OCC 101, OCC 105, PSY103 and PSY191 A survey of the special problems and conditions of the developing child, with emphasis on developmental deficits. The specific goals and objectives of pediatric occupational therapy programs are explored. Two days of additional time is required to complete the level I fieldwork experience that is a required part of this course. A required course in the occupational therapy assistant curriculum.

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: OCC 101, OCC 102, OCC 103, OCC 105, OCC 107, BIO 110 and BIO 111 A study of the appl ication of occupational therapy intervention procedures used by the certified occupational therapy assistant in the area of physical disabilities and rehabilitation.
