1 Credit, 1 Hour This seminar provides students with necessary academic preparatory and study skills, which also includes critical thinking, managing time, stress and test anxiety, as well as critical information regarding campus resources and activities, academic planning and basic career exploration skills. This course will help prepare students to become more successful as college students. Each student will also meet i ndividually with the facilitator at least once during the semester to establish a mentor/mentee relationship. A final reaction paper or a portfolio is required.

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: Students must be in ENG 095 and/or ENG 096 This seminar provides participants with the skills for effective career and educational planning. Students explore personal interests, abilities, values, career options and opportunities, learning styles and life stage issues to identify specific opportunities and goals and to develop concrete plans for achieving them. Life cycle, ego, moral and ethical development theory are integrated into the course to promote better self-understanding and more effective decision-making. Students will also examine different methods of studying and note taking, as well as time management techniques. A final paper and an end project are required for this course. Throughout the semester, students will also meet with their instructors individually, to foster a mentoring relationship.

0 Credits, 4 Hours Intended for students identified by the mathematics assessment, this is a course that emphasizes an understanding of the basic operations of arithmetic and the development of mathematical reasoning.

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: Appropriate score on the mathematics assessment. This is a basic course in algebra. Topics will include: operations with signed numbers, linear equations and inequalities, equations of a line and its graph, systems of two linear equations, integral exponents, operations with polynomials, factoring and quadratic equations. Reinforcement sections are available for students needing additional academic support.

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: MAT 101 or the equivalent This is an intermediate course in algebra that further develops selected topics from MAT 101 along with operations with rational expressions; rational exponents; roots and radicals; absolute value equations and inequalities.

3Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: MAT 102 or permission of the Discipline Coordinator A course for students needing a background in probability, matrix algebra, linear programming and symbolic logic.

4Credits, 4 Hours Prerequisite: MAT 102 or the equivalent A pre-calculus course with special emphasis on the function concept. Topics include algebraic operations; linear, quadratic, polynomial, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions; systems of equations; the binomial theorem.

3 Credits, 3 Hours Prerequisite: MAT 101 or equivalent A mathematics course with special emphasis on critical thinking and problem solving. Topics include: inductive and deductive reasoning; estimation; sets, logic, numerical systems , and number theory; operations with real numbers; basic geometry; basic algebra, probability and statistics. It may not be used as a prerequisite for any other course at the College. The intent of the course is to give current or future teachers a strong foundation in mathematical concepts that can be incorporated into their teaching. It is not intended to be a methods course. This course fulfills the mathematics requirements for students seeking the AA degree in Humanities and Social Science/ Elementary Education Pre K-6 only

4 Credits, 4 Hours Prerequisite: MAT 101 or the equivalent Intended for students whose major area of study is psychology, sociology, economics, business, engineering, or education. Topics include probability, distributions, sampling, confidence intervals, hypotheses testing, inferences about means, proportions and standard deviations, correlation and regression, analysis of variance and non-parametric tests of hypotheses.
