The central question is: What shaped the thoughts of people, what ideas about the land, the environment, helped them create the landscapes we see today Contrasts between conservation and preservation in the 1920s, environmental politics and the emerging Greens, deep ecology, and bioregional concepts will be studied, along with their ethical and spiritual dimensions.
