Students learn and practice necessary skills needed to care for the mother, newborn, and child during a four week clinical assignment. Fundamental experience is gained in the nursery, postpartum, labor/delivery, and pediatric hospital areas. Prerequisites: Semester 1, Concurrent enrollment in or completion of PNSG1628 and PNSG1629.

This unit reviews the ethical and legal responsibilities and nursing abilities anticipated as graduate practical nurses. It includes information about the State Board of Nursing, the licensure exam, functions and benefits of nursing organizations, proper methods of seeking employment, and gives the students a better understanding of business economics in the healthcare field. It also provides the opportunity to utilize health related computer applications, leadership skills, and employment preparation. Prerequisites: Semester I and II.

This course increases students' understanding of the physical, social, economic, and cultural aspects of the aging process. Students work full shifts at a long term care clinical facility applying all the nursing skills learned thus far, the same skills expected of new graduates. Prerequisites: Semester I and II.

This course covers the theory and skills of basic life support prescribed by the American Heart Association including adult, child, and infant CPR; first aid; inhaler; Epi-Pen; and AED.

This course provides practical nursing students with a better understanding of mental health and mental illness. Prerequisite: Semester I.

This course introduces the practical nursing student to common causes of illness and methods of diagnosing and treating illness. It includes the body's response to inflammation/infection and common conditions, symptoms, treatment, and nursing care for clients with endocrine disorders, cancer, and respiratory disorders. Each unit includes pediatric conditions and drug and diet therapy.

This course is a continuation of PNSG1622. Students are introduced to musculoskeletal, allergy, cardiovascular, and blood disorders. The content includes common conditions, symptoms, treatment, nursing care, pediatric conditions, and drug and diet therapy for these disorders. Prerequisite: Semester I.

This course is a continuation of PNSG1628. Students are introduced to common conditions, symptoms, diagnostic techniques, treatments, and nursing care for clients with urinary, gastrointestinal, and reproductive disorders. It includes common pediatric conditions, drug, and diet therapy.

This course is a continuation of PNSG1629. Students are introduced to neurological and sensory disorders. The content includes common conditions, symptoms, diagnostic techniques, treatment, nursing care, pediatric conditions, and drug and diet therapy for these disorders. Prerequisite: Current enrollment in or completion of PNSG1629.

This course provides students with actual experience in dealing with mental health issues. This course follows a theory class and exposes the student to actual patient situations with a chance to observe and/ or participate in mental health interventions guided by professionals in mental health. Prerequisites: Semester I, concurrent enrollment in or completion of PNSG1621.
