This course consists of four dives and completes the certification requirements to become a PADI Open Water Diver. These dives are offered over a two day period approximately every weekend over the summer from the beginning of May to the beginning of October. Prerequisite: PHED1411.

2.00 Credits
This course is an introduction to such popular areas of diving as photography, boat diving, night diving, deep diving, and underwater navigation. This course encompasses two evenings (6 classroom hours/2 pool hours) and one weekend of diving in open water. Students need to provide one roll of film, developing, and logbook. Prerequisite: Certified SCUBA diver. Prerequisite: PHED1411.

2.00 Credits
This course safely introduces learners to the theory and techniques of diving through the ice. The course encompasses two evenings (six classroom hours/two pool hours) and one weekend of diving through the ice. This experience is made comfortable with proper equipment, and the dives are conducted in a custom shelter where the topside temperatures are above 70 degrees. Prerequisite: Certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent and PHED1413.

Aerobics/Toning is a fitness course for students, faculty, staff and the community designed to combine the benefits of cardiovascular aerobic training along with physical conditioning. The purpose of this course is to provide basic knowledge and techniques of aerobic and physical exercise along with the utilization of exercise in stress management and relaxation. Participants start with low impact aerobics and toning exercises with the potential of moving to an intermediate level by the end of the term.

This class is for both beginners and advanced level participants. Participants practice toning techniques focusing on thorough upper body, lower body, and abdominal toning. In addition, topics regarding nutrition, exercise, and motivation are covered.

This course provides a total mind-body workout. Cardiovascular conditioning, functional strength, flexibility, muscle balancing, breath-work, and relaxation are featured.

This course covers the importance of fitness and wellness s. Topics covered include nutrition, weight control, body composition, stress management, cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, and cardiovascular disease.

This course assists learners in understanding the components of a healthy lifestyle. The course includes a study of societal health issues including obesity, chemical abuse, disease prevention through stress management, exercise and fitness, eating disorders, and nutrition.

3.00 Credits
This course provides the student with skills, knowledge, and measurable improvement in his/her personal physical fitness level in preparation for the physical demands of various occupations. Emphasis is placed upon lab activities that provide training in strength and conditioning for various job requirements. Spinal stability is a key focus point in this course.

2.00 Credits
This course covers the academic theory and open water practice of search and recovery procedures. Theory and skill practice takes place in the class and pool environments. Students then transition to the open water and complete four search and recovery dives that focus on skills and techniques learned throughout the course.
