This course is an opportunity for students to learn a kitchen Computer Aided Design (CAD) software package direct from the industry. Learners utilize the software to develop and present solutions to kitchen design projects. The software also supports generation of business documentation. Prerequisite: IDES1652 and ITEC1430.

This course is an opportunity for learners to develop design solutions specific to the clients' needs with the additional constraints of a specified historical style (English, French, American, or modern). Solutions include the use of selections of furnishings and materials appropriate to the specified period or style. Prerequisite: IDES1650, IDES1656, IDES2635, and IDES2637.

The concept of this course is to teach learners to research, analyze, and develop design projects on a large scale in a variety of possible areas such as hospitality, casinos, restaurants, lodging, medical facilities, retail, and office. In addition to the practical information in regard to codes, health regulations, and guidelines for the specific facilities, the learner explores typical and atypical designs and trends. Adherence to ADA guidelines and appropriate codes provide realistic project constraints. Prerequisite: IDES1654.

This course is an opportunity for learners to advance their skills on CAD 2020. Learners develop in depth understanding of 2020 in the production of kitchen and bath floor plans (using National Kitchen and Bath Association-NKBA guidelines as applicable) in home offices, master bedroom suites, and whole house design applications and design solutions. Learners generate a hardcopy of the projects developed with the corresponding reports and documentation that support the design solutions. Prerequisite: IDES2654.

This class introduces learners to AutoCAD Architectural Desktop to design three-dimensional drawings such as isometrics and perspectives. Learners create drawings using existing design blocks as well as created mass modeling objects. Prerequisite: IDES2638.

Internship is a supervised student occupational experience (SOE) at an approved employment training station. Forty-eight hours of SOE are required for each internship credit. The working situation is consistent with the student's career goals and program objectives. The internship provides students the opportunity to experience fulltime (30 hours per week or greater), paid, business and industry entry-level, training-related student occupational work experience, while simultaneously having the advantage of being supervised by a program instructor/coordinator. Any modifications to this internship policy must be endorsed by the program advisor and approved by Academic Affairs. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 and advisor approval. Prerequisite: IDES2633.

This course covers the major components of a microcomputer system, computer terminology, data processing concepts, and handson experience with microcomputers. Software applications include an emphasis on Windows, word processing, presentation graphics, Internet, and email. There is also an introduction to spreadsheet and database applications. This course is designed as a general education course for all learners regardless of their career choice. This course enhances the learners' knowledge and understanding of computers and their awareness of how computers impact their lives. Required software for online: Microsoft Office 2007 Professional. Prerequisite: Keyboard proficiency is recommended.

This course is designed specifically as a first course for computer science students and is required by programs in the Computer Division at the college. The goal of the course is to achieve computer fluency not just literacy. The course introduces students to the skill sets, career paths, and certifications for those entering a computer career with emphasis on personal and professional development. Students are prepared for a future in the information age. An overview is provided of the wide range of topics that an entry level Information Technology (IT) candidate is expected to know in preparation to meet the needs of employers and industry. The course assists students in effectively utilizing their leased laptops, the Internet, email, and college online courses. Students learn the basics of computer hardware, the Windows operating system, and Microsoft Office applications intended to improve their success in college and on the job. Students receive a USB drive, charged as a course fee on their tuition statement, to store an electronic lab manual. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills are expected.

This course is recommended for the nontraditional student who intends to use an IBM personal computer at home or at work. Applications include Windows XP, word processing, database, spreadsheets, and graphics. This course requires no previous experience.
