This course meets Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) goal areas 5 and 8. This course exposes the learner to a culture that exists outside the United States. Learners are required to prepare a critical cultural comparison between the destination country/city and their own country/city. The foreign culture is experienced through research, classroom experiences, and an intensive immersion through a travel experience.

This course meets Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) goal areas 5 and 7. In this course, the student learns about the human and physical geography of the United States and Canada. Students gain understanding of how a geographic perspective helps to make sense of the continent's varied landscapes. Geology, vegetation, and climate are examined to gain an appreciation of how they shape the character of North America's physical regions. Additional study focuses on the cultural regions of the continent and how they have developed, including topical exploration of ethnicity, immigration, and population. Finally, the United States and Canada are broken down into smaller regions for more comprehensive consideration.

This course guides the learner through an individualized education plan within the Individualized Professional Studies AS Degree. The college shares authority with the learner over the development and direction of their degree plan. Guidance is given on the transferability of the achieved credits as well as the choice(s) of technical credits.

This course introduces the learner to the field of health and wellness. Topics of study include the scientific basis for the methods and principles of achieving a state of wellness through various exercise modalities. Instruction is provided in the areas of testing, exercise science, program design, and implementation. Methods of implementation are taught in ATC's Health and Fitness Lab.

This course is a continuation of Training Principles & Methodology I (HEFI1601). Topics of study include the science, principles, and methods and techniques of cardiovascular; resistance; core strength; and flexibility training. Students learn advanced testing techniques including metabolic and VO2 maximum protocols. Students also learn to design and implement an overall wellness-fitness program. These techniques are applied in ATC's Human Performance Lab. Prerequisite: HEFI1601.

This course provides the learner with skills and knowledge in the area of aerobic, cardiovascular, and flexibility fitness training protocols. The course includes preparation and presentation of group aerobic training sessions along with skills in monitoring technique, choreography, and music selection.

This course provides the learner with skills and knowledge of the science of biomechanics and human motion. Topics of study include analysis of movements in sports, work, and daily life. Instruction in prescribing movement oriented exercise programs is included. Additional topics include posture analysis, anatomical planes of motion and functional ranges of motion, functional and multi-planar kinetic chain exercise prescriptions, balance, stability, flexibility, speed, power, plyometrics, and corrective exercise techniques for a wide range of individual differences. Prerequisite: HEFI1602; HEFI1611 or BIOL1417; and HEFI1612 or BIOL1419.

This course provides the learner with the knowledge, skills, and abilities related to exercise professionals. It targets the necessary requirements regarding metabolism and biomechanics needed for health and fitness track certification.

This course provides the learner with the knowledge and skills required for exercise professionals. It targets the anatomical and physiological principles relating to musculature, hormones, cardiovascular, and supplements. Prerequisite: HEFI1611.
