This course meets Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) goal area 1. This course deals with the fundamentals of expository writing based on reading or personal experience. It stresses organization, the process of writing, English grammar, mechanics, and style. Emphasis is on the strategies of exposition as well as effective description and narration. Students learn the process method of writing that can be utilized in business and creative writing. Prerequisite: College level writing score on a placement test or a minimum grade of "C" inENGL0350 (College Prep Writing).

This course is a continuation of Composition I (ENGL1410), with stress on analytical writing, research, and documentation of supporting evidence. Learners write narrative, descriptive, expository, and persuasive essays. Prerequisite: ENGL1410.

This course uses representative works by African American, American Indian, Asian American, and Chicano/Chicana writers, as well as writing from traditionally underrepresented socioeconomic and regional groups, to examine social/cultural factors in America's literary past/present. The course stresses multicultural diversity and awareness while reinforcing the process and product of writing. Prerequisite: ENGL1410.

The process of writing, English grammar, mechanics, and style are incorporated. The focus of this general education course is on mastering the fundamental features of short stories, poems, and other genres. Students learn to write and think in different ways through reading and writing creative works. Prerequisite: ENGL1410.

It stresses application of literary terms through analysis and reaction. Emphasis is on discussing, questioning, and asserting viewpoints. Prerequisite: ENGL1410.

Students work in teams to create a web site that includes online transactions. Emphasis is placed on creating a user friendly, effective and exciting store front that encourages purchasing online. The project must meet the client's requirements and objectives. Additionally students may study for three Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) certifications: CIW Associate, CIW Web Professional, and CIW E-Commerce Site Designer. Prerequisite: CWEB1529, CWEB1534, and CWEB1536.

Students complete hands-on labs to gain advanced skills in developing web sites. Web sites are developed by students that include Adobe Flash animations, buttons, movie clips, video, and sound. Students learn how Adobe Flash or Flex enables web developers to add visual interest and interactivity to a site. A leased laptop from the college is required. Prerequisite: CWEB1529 and CWEB1536. Strongly recommended: CWEB1534.

This course discusses the importance of and the technologies involved with creating a web site that enables users to purchase items online. Concepts covered include SSL, cookies, authenticating users, and the advantages and disadvantages of various methods used to store user information. Advanced ColdFusion skills are employed to create a web site that utilizes wish lists and/or shopping carts. A leased laptop from the college is required. Prerequisite: CWEB1529, CWEB1534, and COPR1504. Strongly recommended: CWEB1536.

This course explores advanced concepts of graphic web design. Students gain skill in creating web pages that are visually appealing and technically effective. Topics include the effective use of line, shape, color, value, texture, and type to achieve unity through balance, repetition, contrast, proximity, and variety. Students create and modify images using Photoshop. A leased laptop from the college is required. Prerequisite: CWEB1529 and CWEB1536.
