A study of the nursing care of individuals, families, and groups experiencing potential or actual psychosocial dysfunction. Collection of data, development of appropriate nursing diagnoses, planning, and goal setting are emphasized. ( Prerequisite: Successful completion of NUR 200.)

A focus on the non-clinical components of managing patient care within a health care agency, with emphasis on a hospital setting. Exploration of professional and individual values as they relate to care delivery systems is included. ( Prerequisite: Second year nursing student or permission of the Director of Nursing.)

A focus on the role of the RN, in contrast to that of PN, applying the nursing process to care of people with moderate to severe health problems. Clinical work in interpretation of data and decision making as a member of a health care team are emphasized. Written care studies are used to promote competence in formulating and evaluating nursing care plans. ( Prerequisites: Successful completion of NUR 200, NUR 201, NUR 202, NUR 203 and B10 215.)

Preparation of students as working members of the health care team, and exploration of the interrelationships with other team members is emphasized. The history of nursing is surveyed and current issues and trends in health care, nursing and nursing education are addressed. Legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities of nurses are examined, as are concepts of professional commitment and accountability. (Prerequisites: Successful completion of NUR 200, NUR 201, NUR 202 and NUR 203.)

Provides instruction in the mastery of the "touch" method of keyboarding on the microcomputer, correct keyboarding techniques, and development of keyboarding skill that combines speed and accuracy. These basic skills will be applied to the keyboarding of simple problems in correspondence, tabulations, manuscripts, forms, and reports.

A continuation of OFT 101 that concentrates on building speed and accuracy. Detailed analysis of correspondence, centering, manuscripts, tabulations, business forms, and reports is provided. ( Prerequisite: OFT 101 with a Grade of C or better.)

Provides intensive training in the transcription of letters, memoranda, and reports using machine transcription equipment. Mailability and production work are emphasized. (Prerequisite: OFT 101 or typing speed of 30 words per minute.)

Familiarizes students with the most commonly used legal terms in today's workplace. Designed to help legal secretaries develop proficiency in transcribing specialized legal dictation. ( Prerequisite: OFT 101 or typing speed of 30 words per minute and CIS 130.)

Prepares the student to perform the operational functions within the modern office environment, including the procedures necessary to function efficiently in today's business world. Decision-making competencies are developed so that the student can operate with a minimum of supervision. ( Prerequisite: OFT 101 prior to or concurrently.)
