The student will review the behavior of fire, equipment, manpower and other available resources. Basic Fire Fighting Tactics and Strategy, methods of attack and preplanning possible fire target areas.

General Education Attributes 1, 6, 8 Students will understand French spoken by a native speaker at normal speed, will read and comprehend selected paragraphs written in French and will write grammatically correct French prose. They will speak in correct structural patterns in short conversations with the instructor and with other students. Students will also interpret characteristics of the language and the culture via a variety of experiences utilizing the basic grammatical patterns of conversation involving familiar situations and experiences.

Prerequisite: FRE 1510 General Education Attributes 1, 6, 8 Students will converse in French using a normal speaking rate, broad vocabulary, correct structural patterns and a variety of idioms. They will interpret selected readings and prepare compositions utilizing correct grammatical form and idioms.

General Education Attributes. 1, 7 A basic course designed to emphasize the nature of and interdependency of important concepts in astronomy, biology, chemistry, ecology, geology, mathematics and physics. The content will be chosen so that the methods of inquiry and the modes of understanding required by the discipline being studied become known to the student.

Prerequisite: Consent of instructor Internship students will be employed in positions of responsibility as supervisors or management trainees in the hospitality industry. They will be under the supervision of the employer with onsite visits by the instructor Students will complete a scheduled in-depth research report which includes evaluations by the employer. Students will be required to fulfill the obligation of employment for 16 weeks.

The student will identify and describe the organizational structure of a front office and how it relates to the overall objectives of the hotel/ motel operation. The student will define three principles of management, routine procedures and accounting techniques, including the principles involved in guest room salesmanship, receiving guests, proper procedures in handling mail and information, emergencies, sales and registration procedures, appropriate rooming facilities and the correct way to check out guests at the end of their stay.

The student will identify, define and describe the fundamentals of housekeeping and laundry management including a thorough knowledge of proper record keeping organization, functions and executive responsibilities of this department in the hotel/motel industry. The student will practice training procedures for employees of this department including the essentials of leadership based on proper planning, implementation, efficiency, purchasing, hygiene, staffing and scheduling.

General Education Attributes8, 9, 10 The course will explain the spatial dimensions of Earth's dynamic system-its energy, air,water, weather, climate, tectonics, landforms, rocks, plants, ecosystems and biomes. The course examines human-Earth relationships using maps to create a holistic view of the planet and its inhabitants.
