Students will learn and engage in distinct foreign language methodologies as appropriate to peer-tutoring activities. Weekly seminars, as well as a comprehensive methodology workshop will integrate foreign language teaching theory with practice. Responsibilities include private tutoring in the Foreign Languages Tutoring Center; designing tutorial activities; selecting, organizing and presenting material; evaluating student progress and diagnosing student needs and classroom management techniques. Local community agencies and institutions, such as NSCAP (North Shore Community Access Program) and the Girl Scouts, will provide students opportunities in the Spanish-speaking community involving family, group and individual contact. Students will be supervised on-site. Periodic meetings with Foreign Languages faculty to assess and evaluate performance and progress. Prerequisite: Proficiency appropriate to the placement.
